Big Idea: What does it mean to be human?

After today I should be able to: understand the difference between two characters and how it affects the plot.

    1. Minor characters one-pager
      1. First mention and best quote
      2. How to pronounce his or her name and a symbol
      3. A list of the actions or events he or she has been a part of
      4. Connections to other characters
    2. Possible characters
      1. 1. **Okoye**: A wealthy and respected member of the Umuofia clan.
      2. **Ogbuefi Ezeudu**: An elderly and influential elder in Umuofia. 
      3. **Obierika**: Okonkwo's best friend and confidant, who often provides a more moderate perspective.  
      4. **Nwoye**: Okonkwo's son
      5. **Ekwefi**: Okonkwo's second wife, who was once the village beauty.
      6. **Ezinma**: Okonkwo's favored child, Ekwefi's daughter. 
      7. **Ikemefuna**: A young boy who is sent to live with Okonkwo's family for three years. 
      8. **Ogbuefi Ezeani**: The priest of the earth goddess, Ani.
      9. **Ojiugo**: Okonkwo's third wife. 
      10. Priestess of Agbala
    3. Also, choose one example of religion in the book to present on.

Discussion Practice

  3. Notice and Note reading strategy.
    1. Contribute to the Padlet wall.
  4. Google Classroom discussion.
    1. Build, Modify, or Challenge
      1. Build: add on to an idea by providing further evidence
      2. Modify: identify what you want to change and why
      3. Challenge: disagree with an idea and replace it with a new one
  5. You will need to notice 10 things for our discussion tomorrow.
  6. Desk work for today:
    1. List all of the characters in the book and how they are connected. Take a picture and submit it on Google Classroom.
